The study’s conclusions appeared to tally with the United States Justice Department’s disclosure in 1983 that American intelligence agencies in Europe knowingly employed and protected former Nazis, including Klaus Barbie, the former Gastapo chief of Lyons, recently convicted of war crimes in a French court. The United States investigation showed that American officials assisted some of the former Nazis in acquiring new identities that made it possible for them to leave Europe and settle elsewhere, notably in South America….
Some of the censorship involved passages dealing with two former prime ministers, Louis St. Laurent and Pierre Trudeau.
Mr. St. Laurent is depicted as having agreed to the resettlement in Canada in 1949 of a Nazi collaborator from Czechoslovakia, Karol Sidor, after a direct appeal from Pope Pius XII. Mr. Sidor, previously commander in chief of the Hlinka Guard, a Slovakian stormtrooper unit, had been reassigned to the Vatican as the delegate of Nazi-occupied Slovakia. The study quotes a letter from the Apostolic delegate in Canada telling the Canadian authorities that Mr. Sidor ”cannot settle down anywhere in Europe without undergoing serious inconveniences and vexations.”
Mr. St. Laurent, who retired in 1957, was also depicted as having been ”personally involved” in communicating with purported Nazi war collaborators from Vichy France who settled in Quebec after being convicted in absentia in French courts. Mrs. Rodal said the St. Laurent Cabinet passed a special measure to allow four collaborators to remain in Canada as ”political refugees,” and that Mr. St. Laurent acted to persuade another man, Count Jacques de Bernonville, to flee Canada before he was deported to France. Greif adds that the focus of this film will be the fate of two world-famous families, Tesla and Herzl, and notes that 14 members of the Tesla family and 13 members of the Herzl family were brutally killed in Jasenovac.
…we must make every effort to document the crimes committed by the German Nazis and the Croatian Ustashas. Film, as well as literature, can bring the truth to the world… We should make as many films as necessary so that Jasenovac and Auschwitz never happen again – Greif said for “Politika”. …during the years 1941-1945, in the satellite state of Croatia under the government of Croatian fascists, known as the Ustashi, supported by the Axis powers, as well as by the Croatian Catholic hierarchy, with the knowledge of the Vatican.
In order to justify his policy of extermination, the Sultan, Abdual Hamid, was known to say: “The way to get rid of the Armenian question is to get rid of the Armenians.”
This same maxim was adopted by the Croatian nationalists and clericals concerning the Serbian question in Croatia. According to the statutes of the Ustashi organization, “the name Ustashi was to be given to those who, in pre-war Yugoslavia, swore that by the destruction of the Yugoslav State he [they] helped in the extermination of Serbianism and the Orthodox Church.” (Nova Hrvatska, May 4, 1941.)
…the Orthodox Serbs in Croatia barely escaped complete extermination.
“In the early morning of February 7, 1942, the [Croatian Nazi] Ustashas massacred Serbs in the villages of Drakulic, Motike, Sargovac and the Rakovac mine in Banja Luka, and according to official data so far, at least 2,300 people were killed, including 551 children. Under the command of Lieutenant Josip Mislov and Fr. Vjekoslav Filipovic of the “Ante Pavelic’s Physical Association”, the Ustashas, with the help of Banja Luka [Croatian Nazi] Ustashas, killed Serbs without a single fired bullet – axes, knives and picks.” Continue reading
“It should be noted that the dismemberment of Yugoslavia was an operation long prepared in Germany…
So, Berlin, at the time it was Bonn, thought that Serbian resistance contributed to German defeat in world wars. These people were to be punished.
Secondly, the next German idea was to reward Croats and Muslims who joined Germany and occupied certain positions in France during the war, to thank them because they chose German side…
[W]e today reflect upon with great sorrow because the Western world demonstrated it capability of utter perversions in order to conform to a German obsession…”
Brigadier-General Pierre Marie Gallois
Croatian soldiers joined by Albanian paramilitaries from Kosovo were united in their celebration of “Ustasha and Nazi ideology under the NATO flag” during a military exercise in Croatia. Together they sang songs in tribute to the genocide of hundreds of thousands of Serbs slaughtered by Croatian and Albanian Fascist forces allied with the Nazis during World War II in a military exercise commemorating Croatia’s 10-year NATO membership. This NATO event was called: Immediate Response.
Unlike the Germans, who rejected the symbol of the swastika after the war, the Croatians continue to proudly display their Fascist flag with the notorious checker board Ustasha insignia–with the apparent sanction of NATO. Continue reading
“Pavelic and other Nazis were housed and protected in Vatican castles and monasteries, often taking the guise of priests . ”
Fr. Draganovic was a war criminal wanted by Yugoslavia for the brutal ethnic cleansing of Serbs in 1942 in Kozara, the same region where another Nazi, Kurt Waldheim had operated….
Draganovic ran the so called Vatican ratline procuring for Croatians but also other Nazi war criminals, like Adolf Eichmen, false papers and passage to new lives in South America and elsewhere.”
“Artukovic, the Himmler of Croatia, the man responsible for death camps where hundreds of thousands of Serbs were shot, burned alive, or bludgeoned to death with special hammers, lived openly in Southern California for over thirty years, while private Congressional bills assured his safety from deportation .”
“…Croatian hands are completely covered with blood in Jasenovac” – said Israeli Holocaust Historian, Dr. Gideon Greif.
“When it comes to Cardinal Aloysius Stepinac, I will tell you briefly: His canonization is a crime itself, and people who intend to canonize him are criminals.” Continue reading
Rabbi Giuseppe Laras presents evidence of the Vatican’s disquieting shift towards overt anti-Semitism, as led by Pope Francis. He notes this — not just in many of the Pope’s troubling statements — but in the program guide for the fall conference of the Italian Biblical Association (ABI) where it is explicitly stated. Though little reported, Catholic priests in the Balkans were active participants … Continue reading
“The Vatican had its ambassadorial Legate Ramiro Marcone in Zagreb throughout the war and his Secretary Guiseppe Masucci who spoke Serbo-Croatian fluently. Both of them visited concentration camps in Croatia (including Jasenovac) and met directly with those most responsible for the Holocaust there: Artukovic, Kvartnik, etc. ” Continue reading
